1 DRESS 2 WAYS

Let's face it -- as teachers we'll probably never be rich (monetarily that is, but we'll always be rich in love, amiright?!) so it's important to make the money we do have stretch. That's why I think every teacher needs a great sundress as a staple in their wardrobe. A sundress is so very versatile. You can dress it up, dress it down. Wear it late spring, through summer, and even into the beginning of the new school year. Today, I'm sharing some ideas on how you can take one simple sundress and wear it from spring to summer, in the classroom or around town.

The Dress:

I got this dress at Old Navy on sale!! I love how it has such a simple and flowy silhouette. With the fresh flower pattern and little swing to it when I twirled, I knew it would be the perfect sundress. What makes it even better is the fact that it's midi length which means that I can wear it to teach in as well since it's a modest length. These days when I go shopping I always find myself doing that "test". Sure it's cute, but can I teach in it? I like to make my money stretch by finding versatile pieces that can fit into both my professional and personal life.

Let's jump into how I would style this dress for the classroom or a day out on the town.

Look 1:

I loved wearing this outfit to school! I got so many compliments on the dress and sweater combo (one student even said, "Miss Whittaker, that is your color!") and it was so comfortable! You could wear your sundress any day of the week and change up the look with a switch of cardigan or accessories. I wore my sundress just like this for 5th Grade graduation in May, and I plan on wearing it in August/September at the beginning of the new school year. All I'll have to do is switch up my cardigan (I'm thinking I'll go with my tan or mustard colored cardigan) and accessories.

The Look:
Floral Sundress - Old Navy (Although this particular sundress is sold out online, there are always cute, modest, midi length sundresses to be found at Old Navy)
Mint Cardigan - Old Navy (I have this cardigan in a couple of different colors. It is such a great & versatile staple in my wardrobe. Check it out here)
Initial Necklace - Kohls (same, similar
Block Heeled Sandals - Old Navy (similar)
Brown Tassel Purse - Target (similar)

Look 2:

After work throw a jean jacket over your sundress, slide on some sandals, and you're ready for a night out! This cute and effortless look just calls for a switch up of accessories and a touchup of lipstick and you have a whole new look. Whether you're meeting friends for coffee or spending the day window shopping, this work appropriate dress has just become something perfect for your personal life as well.

The Look:
Jean Jacket - Old Navy (same)
Black Sandals - Target
Blush Purse - Target

These are just 2 looks with 1 sundress, but really with just one great sundress you can come up with countless outfits for the rest of the summer that will carry you into the beginning of the school year and be ready for you to wear again in the spring! Good luck in your search for your perfect sundress.

  1. This is so true and I love how you styled it! Where'd you get the earrings you're wearing in the second look?
