MY PRAYER FOR THE 2017 - 2018 SCHOOL YEAR

I go back to school this week and I've been spending a lot of time thinking about and praying for my new students. I decided to write out my prayer for this school year and felt led to share it with you. I was inspired by @firstgradeblvd's photo of her back to school prayer.

Dear God,

Thank you for this opportunity to be an educator. Thank you for this call you have placed on my life and the gifts you have placed inside me. Lord, equip me for this new year of teaching.

Let me be what my students need. Please provide me with the strength to get through the longest and hardest of days. Please help me to be sensitive and alert to your voice each day. Please give me the wisdom and grace to deal with different situations as they arise. I pray that my heart pours out onto my students and staff, and that they remember that they are so loved and so valued.

I pray that I am the teacher that You have called me to be. Give me the eyes to see what my students need. Help me to stay positive when things start to get overwhelming. I can't do this without you. Remind me to ask you to fill me each and every day.

Lord, I know that there is a reason and purpose to each of the students who enter my classroom. I pray that we become a classroom family and encourage one another. Help me to reach out to all of my students and see them through Your eyes.

I pray that all of my fellow staff will remember just how important their job is. I hope they know someone is rooting for them, even when it doesn't feel like it. I pray we have a successful year that is filled with joy, love, and positivity.

Thank you Lord!
Amen.

I would encourage you to write out your prayers for this year, or print out mine! Tape your prayer on your refrigerator, your desk, or by the mirror in your bathroom-- somewhere you will see it and remember to pray it again.
